    Poem: “It Was All Yellow”

    4 minutes and 26 seconds

    the world is quiet
    black and white

until i put my headphones in
    and “look at the stars”

and the black and white turns yellow,
    pale blue, and sage green

    i’m in the stars
“look how they shine for you”

    they shine so bright
    they drown the silence
    the empty
    the quiet

you fill my world with color
    my noise with music
    I’m suspended in time

and for 4 minutes and 26 seconds
    my life is whole again
