During fall break, my family rented a cabin in East Georgia. We visited many different small towns that give off “Countdown to Christmas” vibes. These towns can put a smile on any grinch’s face.
Before the holiday season is over, here are the top 5 “Hallmark” towns you should visit in Georgia!
Dahlonega is definitely full of Christmas spirit and cheer, with a tree lighting ceremony, Dickens carolers, and a decked out town square full of lights and wreaths. This town has so many great places to eat and shop. It is definitely one of my favorite places to visit! While you are in Dahlonega you should stop by and get pictures with Santa and the grinch in front of the town tree and go by the fudge factory and get some of their delicious treats!
Blue ridge is such a fun holiday destination. You can shop at some of the cutest boutiques in Georgia, eat some awesome southern cuisine at one of the many restaurants in the strip, and you can even get tickets and ride on the scenic railway trail. I would recommend stopping by Julia’s boutique for a new fit, and Huck’s General store for some old fashioned vibes and delicious candy!
In Helen, you can not only enjoy the fun stores and gourmet bakeries and candy shops, but you can also admire the German architecture and inspiration in the town. Along the strip, you can get some wonderful homemade German treats from Hoffer’s Bakery and Hansel and Gretel’s candy shop. While in Helen, you should definitely check out the mountain coaster and be sure to get in line early because it can sometimes be a long wait!
Another adorable Christmas town that you should visit is Dawsonville! While in the beautifully decorated town, you can visit and hike the Amicacola falls. My favorite thing about Dawsonville is the scenery. It is worth the visit to see some of the views of the town.
While at the mountains, my family and I stayed in this beautiful area and it was so pretty! My one specific recommendation for this area is to visit Jumping Goat coffee. Even if you are not a big coffee person, Jumping Goat has an amazing atmosphere. Including a million dollar view, that overlooks the mountains and a pasture. The perfect spot to sip coffee (or tea!) and listen to live music!
