    Transitioning Back to School

Transitioning back to school can be hard, especially after having so much down time during quarantine, but despite the differences this year is going to bring, there are so many reasons to be excited to go back. Although there are many changes to the way school is being operated including social distancing, wearing masks, alternating between going to school and virtual learning, and only allowing half capacity in the building, it is exciting to be able to even enter the building and be surrounded by peers.

Going back to school feels like a step towards normalcy and is exciting in itself. This year is going to be challenging but having a positive mindset is key to making this year the best it can be. I have compiled a list below of ways that I believe one can stay happy and healthy when entering back into this school year.

    1. Stay Active:

Getting active is extremely important in staying mentally and physically healthy. These times are stressful and the busyness of school may be challenging to transition back into after having so much down time during quarantine. Making time to work out can help maintain stress during these times.

    2. Continue Hobbies:

During quarantine, many picked up hobbies to keep themselves entertained. Making time for these activities, despite the school work, may be a great way to enter the school year because taking time for the things that make us happy is so important.

    3. Remember That situations May Change:

Situations are constantly changing so remembering this is very important. With the knowledge that schools may go fully virtual, if they haven’t already, sets you up for less disappointment if they do.

    4. Positive Mindset:

Having a positive mindset is key to making this school year great. It is hard to stay socially distanced and wear masks during the seven hours at school but remembering that this is for the best is very important. Instead of being sad about the new way school is operating, make sure to remember how far we have come.

This school year is going to look different. It will have its upsides and downsides, but there are still so many things to be excited for as we go back.
