Lukewarm Girl Summer

Lukewarm Girl Summer

It’s Finally Here

Summer can be a great time, whether it’s a break from school, tests, or other forms of stress, we tend to have so much free time, but we tend to waste it scrolling through social media. Most are familiar with the term “Hot Girl Summer,” but it’s overused and seemed to be only a physical glow up, not having much significance for us mentally and emotionally.

A “Lukewarm Girl Summer” is a free time period of growth to accomplish the things you wouldn’t normally get to do during the school year. There are many different aspects to having a great summer. I like to split them into these categories: body, brains, and a ball.

Body

Of course having a physical glow up is fun (as long as it’s healthy). During the summer, we have to remember to constantly move our bodies. It makes you feel great! Doing the simple things like going walking once a day or swimming at your local pool helps you look and feel better. Working out, practicing yoga, or staying in shape by eating good but healthy foods are all ways you can give your body the benefits it needs to glow up before the next school year starts! (Just remember to drink plenty of water!)

Brains

During the break from school, we sometimes lose the basics of school. Learning is always important whether it’s listening to your favorite podcasts each day or summer reading. Every single day, once I’m up and running, I try to journal. Sometimes I journal thoughts, gratitude, or what I want to accomplish for the day. This helps your mind, and encourages you to never stop thinking.

Here are a few prompts to help get you started:

  • How are you this morning?
  • What do I wish to achieve today?
  • How do I want today to go?
  • How can I show love to others today?
  • Today I won’t:
  • What went well today?
  • What am I grateful for?
  • What could’ve gone differently?
  • Goals for tomorrow?

Here are some prompts for pure entertainment and research purposes that are actually pretty interesting:

  • Whitewashing in media
  • Art fraud
  • Methods of forensic investigation at crime scenes
  • Controversy in psychological studies
  • Ancient Egypt, social hierarchy, and attitudes toward women
  • What is cringe culture?
  • Poisons
  • History of surgeries
  • How are black holes formed?
  • What caused the stock market to crash in 2008?

Have a ball!

Last but not least, having fun is probably the most important part of summer. Relax, chill out, do the things that you normally wouldn’t do during the school year. I always tell people to make a bucket list. This is probably one of the most fun activities you can do, especially with friends. List 101 things to finish by the end of the summer!

To make it even better, make it a competition between friends by having a point system and the winner getting a prize in the end! Make the most out of your Lukewarm Girl Summer! Trust me, you won’t regret it! Camp outside your house one night, make a vision board for the next school year, paint a canvas tote bag, bake cookies, make fishbowl drinks, or go to Build a Bear with your friends. The possibilities are endless!

And make sure you drink water :))

Here’s some cute water bottles you can use and decorate to help you stay hydrated.
