If you are anything like me, you dread those first few weeks back at school.
It’s a hard time — getting back in the groove of things and relearning study habits that were forgotten over the summer.
School can be tough, but I have a few tips and tricks that might make it more bearable.
1. Dress in whatever makes YOU feel good!
I don’t know about you, but when I am wearing something I feel confident in, my mood is immediately boosted.
For me, confidence comes with the color red. For you, it could be anything. Dressing in a way that makes you happy means you can be more relaxed, confident, and chill throughout the school day.
I find that it is easier for me to focus on my actual schoolwork when I am wearing something that doesn’t make me feel insecure.
Confidence empowers us, and being confident is the best way to adjust to something new.
2. Stay away from toxic people
Navigating friendships and social life can be challenging in a school setting. Putting yourself out there is difficult, and making friends is not always seamless.
If you have a friend or partner that frequently makes you feel stressed or upset , try your best to phase them out without any conflict. Having friends is really what everyone wants, but sometimes we get ourselves into relationships that are just not healthy.
Try to talk more to people who make you feel happy and who, most importantly, let you be yourself.
3. Live your life to the fullest!
Middle school and high school are really just a small fraction of the rest of your life. We have got no time to waste.
Do whatever makes you feel comfortable at school, whether that is listening to music, socializing, or doodling in the margins of your paper. You should be focused on making yourself happy, not others. Do not worry about what people may think about you, do activities that you want to do.
Life is too short to worry about what others may think. You only live this life once, go make the most of it!
