Tips for Staying Fit and Healthy During Summer

While the season of summer is known for travel and excitement, it’s essential that we keep our bodies healthy and in check! Listed down below are plenty of simple ways to stay fit during this break.


  • Always protect yourself from the sun

    • Whether it’s swimming in a pool or going on a run, always make sure to protect your skin from the sun’s ultraviolet rays using sunscreen. SPF 30 is the recommended minimum, and don’t forget to reapply every hour when outside for long periods of time. 
  • Consider making refreshing and nutritious treats

    • During the summer, it is no surprise that the blazing heat causes us to crave cold beverages and desserts. A great way to make healthy dietary choices this summer is to make fresh smoothies using fruits and even vegetables. As an additional bonus, you can buy a popsicle mold from your local grocery store and freeze the smoothie into an ice-cream like texture! 
  • Don’t forget to exercise!

    • For those of us who aren’t as able to handle the sun’s high temperatures, finding ways to stay active indoors is a must. Try joining a gym, watching youtube workouts, or practice simple dance routines.
  • Stay cool during fitness sessions

    • To help regulate body temperature, make sure to dress lightly when performing fitness activities. Opt for cooler parts of the day to exercise and bring cooling towels and plenty of water for your time exercising. 
  • Maintain a consistent sleep schedule

    • Summer is for partying, and many of us tend to stay up late watching movies or walking along the beach. However, we must keep in mind that our minds always need time to rest, and devoting this time to re-energize will keep us active the next day! 
  • Take time to rest and make the most of your vacation

    • As the school year has come to an end, summer is the perfect time to meet up with friends and spend time with family. Always remember to prioritize your mental health above all else, regardless of any circumstances!
