The Princess of Spring

She sits there with her jeweled crown
Looking out for the youths of the town
Birds will swoop down to rest on her arms
And the whole world bends to her beautiful charms

Her laugh is heard through every wind chime
Her eyes are alight no matter what time
She stains the sky pink before her goodnight
Then the sun rises again by the will of her might

By the end of the season it grows unbearably hot
She terribly sways under this annual plot
Once again, the birds will swoop in
With her heat-stricken face she lifts up her chin

They scoop her up and carry her away
Over the town during the middle of May
She waves goodbye
And with a tiny sigh:

She promises that the Princess of Spring will return one day
