Top Ten Things You Need In Your Backpack for the 2020-2021 School Year- Other Than School Supplies

Going back to school after a long summer is always an exciting time for students everywhere. However, add a worldwide pandemic, a six-month break, and quarantine to this and the excitement for students to see their friends and get into the classroom is even greater. As schools reopen their doors and we gather our supplies for the year, there are some items you should think about carrying with you aside from binders and books. Here is a top ten list of items you should keep in your backpack to make your life as a student easier!

10. Change Pouch/Wallet

I know I’m not the only one who occasionally finds a loose quarter or penny in my backpack from a purchase at the school concession stand or cafeteria. Having some kind of pouch to keep cash and change in is great for anyone who has a supply store or other place to buy items at school and doesn’t want change collecting at the bottom of their backpack.

9. Band-Aids

This one may seem unnecessary, but it is great for anyone who tends to get blisters and paper cuts often. Having your own stash of band-aids on you helps you stay prepared and saves you a trip to the nurse.

8. Power bank and/or phone charger

No matter who you are, having a backup phone charger at school can be very useful. A fully charged phone doesn’t last forever, but by having a charger in your backpack, you can stay one step ahead without worry.

7. Hairbrush and Pony Tail Holders

Whether you have short, medium, or long hair, having a few extra ponytail holders in your backpack is always useful! You never know when you may need to pull your hair back and out of your face for a science lab or after school sport. Also, having a hairbrush, while not essential, can be very helpful when you need to throw your hair in a ponytail quickly.

6. Stain Remover Pen

This one is especially useful if you are in an art class, or if you are just prone to stains at lunchtime. Whatever the case may be, having one of these in your backpack to treat stains at school when their fresh makes fully removing them when you get home much easier. This could save one of your favorite outfits some day!

5. Deodorant

Having some extra deodorant in your bag can be a life saver whether you need it for after school sports, on an especially hot day, or when you rush out the door in the morning and forget to put some on before you leave!

4. Mints or Gum

Everyone loves having fresh breath, and after lunch, having mints or gum in your backpack keeps you feeling clean all day. Fresh breath is even more important now when wearing a mask all day long, so have a pack of mints in your bag to make things more bearable.

3. Feminine Products

This one is pretty much a given for pre-teen and teenage girls. You never know when you may need them, but you will surely be glad you have them when you do. Sometimes, you may even be able help out one of your friends when they need it!

2. Extra Face Masks

Going back to school with Covid-19 still out there means extra precautions need to be taken to keep yourself, your teachers, and your fellow students healthy and in the classroom! Having extra masks in your backpack is a must for bad breath, sneezes, or in case the one you are wearing breaks!

1. Hand Sanitizer

This is the most important item on this list for the 2020 school year! Whether there is a pandemic out there or not, having your own hand sanitizer on you keeps you healthy and safe from all kinds of germs. I would also recommend getting a carrying case to have on your backpack for easy access.

I hope you found this list helpful as you ready your backpack for this year, and for everyone returning to school, have fun, stay safe, and study hard!
