Showing Thanks & Being Grateful

Showing Thanks

Whether it’s during the holiday season or in general, being thankful and grateful is something that everyone loves – and needs – to see, but more importantly feel. Showing thanks and being grateful is one way you can clearly let the ones you love know that they are appreciated.

Ways to Show Thanks

Say Thank You: Verbalizing thanks allows your appreciation to be heard. Simply saying “Thank You” clearly communicates that their action has been noticed and that you appreciate them.

Communicate: There are times when a simple thank you is not a sufficient gesture of appreciation. Communicate in a grateful manner that showcases your gratitude and respect.

Return the Favor: A great way to show thanks is by returning the favor that was given to you. Returning the favor is a clear, non-verbal way of showing thanks. There are many ways to do this – so no need to limit yourself! With a simple act of kindness, your appreciation and gratefulness will be known.

Recognize for Whom/What to Be Grateful

  • A trusting and respectful guardian
  • Sibling(s) or pets to grow up with
  • Anything free that you can comfortably access
  • Being alive and well!

“This is what life does. It lets you walk up to the store to buy breakfast and the paper, on a stiff knee. It lets you choose the way you have your eggs, your coffee. Then it sits a fisherman down beside you at the counter who says, Last night, the channel was full of starfish. And you wonder, is this a message, finally, or just another day?”
