3 Relaxing Ways To Spend A Mental Health Day

Treating myself is something I have struggled with for many years. I usually see a day off as a day wasted, but during quarantine, I learned that it is okay to have a lazy day once in a while. I don’t always need to be wearing myself out. This could be by working double shifts at two different jobs. Or by doing school work two weeks ahead of when it’s due. Self care is equally as important to work and school. If you’re seeing this, it’s a sign for you to take a day to relax and treat yourself! Here’s three ideas for a nice, unwinding day dedicated to yourself:

MOVIE BINGE

Take a second to think of a movie trilogy you have always wanted to see (The Hunger Games series, Divergent series, etc.) and plan a cozy day with a bunch of blankets, pillows, and popcorn to watch the movies! If you’re anything like me, you might want to stock up on tissues as well since I cry at the end of every single movie. But seriously, this is one of the best ways to unwind and let the day pass by without a single worry. Everyone can enjoy a nice day of laying down and doing absolutely nothing; Sometimes it is just necessary!

SPA DAY

I’m calmed just by the words “spa day”. Find a local spa with good reviews on Google and book an appointment with them! You will be pampered all day by wonderful women/men who understand your stress and know how to make it go away. You can sit in the sauna or even get a manicure or a pedicure. Imagine the cucumbers on your eyes as they massage your worries away… Now make it a reality and book yourself that amazing spa appointment!

HIKING

This one sounds a little out of the blue but nature truly has a softening effect. Hikins is one of my personal favorites because you can mindlessly admire the beauty of the woods for hours and enjoy every second of it. Find a hiking trail near you. Then spend your day listening to the cooling sounds of the leaves bristling and the creek’s calm stream of water. While you are easing your anxiety, you are also getting your steps in. It’s a double win!
