The Importance of Nature

Although it might seem silly to go outside for thirty minutes, it’s very beneficial. Spending a small amount of your day outside without technology allows you to lose stress and relax. Every afternoon when I come home from school, I do my homework and devote an hour of my time to sitting outside.

While outside, I do the 4-4-4 breathing technique. You breathe in for four seconds, hold for four, and breathe out for four. When I sit outside and just relax, I can forget about my day and overall become less stressed out and overall happier.

I wish I discovered this trick earlier in middle school because it would have prevented me from overthinking as much as I did. I hope this helps anyone who is stressed or needs a break.

    Totally agree! After a long day on the grind, I like to head outside for a walk. It really helps clear my mind.
