The shutter is like the calm
After the storm, the flash
The snap, the picture being stored
Into to an endless loop
Maybe 300 hundred maybe 600
now one knows

she’s hiding where no one can find her
Behind the miles and miles
Of countless photos
half she doesn’t even know who they are about
No one knows who she really is
Not even her closest friend

Again and again, the only relax she gets
It becomes so frequent
No one knows who she is taking pictures of
Who is she here for

The endless repetition
Until the sound
Until she realizes her safe haven, is gone
She is out of film
She can’t take anymore, moment holder
She doesn’t refer to the pictures
Because when she is old
She doesn’t want to look at pictures
She wants to look at memories

She knows
She knows that everyone knows
She has to move the camera away from her face
The face no one knows
The face only she knows
All anyone ever sees in her messy blonde hair

She tries to fumble with the camera
Getting every inch of space she can
It’s not enough
As she moves the camera
She realizes she is in a room of people she doesn’t know
Everyone looks at her
As if she is the only piece of art in here
And all she can think
“You’re missing moments
And I already missed too many
Of mine”
And then she realized
The messy blonde hair she had once adored
Had turned gray
And she had snapped away
Every moment until she was old
Now she can look at moments
But none of them meant anything to her
They meant things to other people
She was a selfless memory taker
For other people
And now she lives life for herself
because she wants to make the most of all the moments she has left
