How to Host the Perfect Family Night

Family Nights

Families- big or small- are great, but we can get so caught up in our everyday lives, we forget about the people around us. Households need time to break away from work and school to relax and have fun. Now that Christmas is just around the corner, our families are what matter the most! One of those ways you can do that is hosting a family movie/game  night. Staying at home can be an awesome (and affordable) way to bond and have fun with your family- for all ages!

Things You Need:

  • Your family
  • TV or a big screen
  • Any board game (Candy Land, Uno, CLUE, Sorry, ect.)
  • Snacks (popcorn, candy, chips, soda, ect.)

Optional:

  • Pillows and blankets
  • Loudspeaker
  • Any camera
  • A tent

Instructions:

First,  invite your family. Let everyone know you’re hosting a family game or movie night and you would love everyone to have a nice bonding time. Setting a nice date and time for the event so everyone knows when to be home. Next, you need to plan. Plan, or have an idea about what you want your party to be like. Now there’s not much for this step, but making sure you know what you’re doing is important. Choose a movie (or a binge-worthy series) everyone would like to watch or even cast a vote to pick a nice feel-good movie. If planning to do games or family competitions, choose what you will play -or- again, cast a vote! Still can’t figure out what film to watch? Let everyone pitch in and let the pinwheel choose what movie goes on the big screen!

Finally, once everything from invites to board games is settled, it’s time to get some yummy food! Stick with classic popcorn or switch it up a bit! Maybe order pizza, have an icecream bar, or just grab a handful of everyone’s favorites. Places like the dollar store or a Walmart will suit your needs just fine.

Now you can get creative! Don’t wanna hang in the living room all night? Instead, do family night outside. Use a projector to play your movie. Turn your fun night into a pajama party. Set up pillows that are fun and colorful (or start a pillow fight!)  Set up a fun fort, or put up a tent to watch your movie in. During game time, try blasting some music from your phone to your speaker- the neighbors won’t mind! Last but not least, make some memories! Try hosting a family fun night a few times a year. Take pictures and videos to capture the perfect moments. They’re great for scrapbooking! The world is our oyster!

Oftentimes, because of school, work, and traveling, we forget to relax and unwind sometimes. We can also forget that family is everything! Try having a fun evening for an ultimate time at home with the people you love and cherish the most- family!
