8 Things to Do On a Rainy Day

1. Make a Rainy Day Playlist

Having a playlist for a rainy day can motivate you to be productive throughout the day. Most of the time, rainy days feel gloomy, but music can make them better.

Your playlist can be long or short depending on what your goals are for the day.

2. Bake Your Favorite Dessert

Rainy days are the perfect excuse to bake your favorite dessert!

With two pie crusts and a can of your favorite pie filling, you can bake a pie in just under an hour. Or, if you’re not a pie person, you can find a simple chocolate chip cookie recipe to bake.

Afterwards, you can catch up on a show you have been waiting to watch and enjoy your well-deserved dessert.

3. Read a Book

It’s hard to find time to read when your day is consumed by school or work, but days when you don’t have to think about those things are perfect for settling down with a book of your choice to relax.

With the rain pelting down in the background, it creates a wonderful background noise to enjoy the book you have been putting off reading.

4. Take a Walk in the Rain

If it’s only raining outside and you are alright with your hair and clothes being soaked, going outside in the rain can be fun. Even just taking a walk around the yard can help you clear your mind, and prepare for the week ahead.

5. Watch a Comfort Movie or Show

Making a cup of hot chocolate and grabbing your favorite snack on a rainy day is a common go-to for a reason. With your favorite movie or show, you could have a cozy day filled with relaxation.

6. Start a New Hobby

Starting new hobbies can be intimidating and challenging but also rewarding. If there is a hobby you want to start, gather the supplies necessary beforehand, so that you won’t have to go out in the rain.

You could crochet, annotate books, write a short story, or try anything else that piques your interest. Find videos about the hobby you want to learn about and jump into it!

7. Play a Game

On days when the weather is gloomy, board and card games brighten up the mood. Find your favorite game and play with someone in your household. You could also look up different card games to try, so that you don’t get bored.

8. Make a Vision Board

For a small – or big– craft, you can make a vision board by gathering pictures you like together and creating a collage. If you have access to a printer, you can print them out and put them on a poster board to hang up in your office or room.

If you don’t have access to a printer, you can make a virtual collage on your device. Vision boards can be for anything you like and display however you are feeling. This activity will allow you to be productive and have fun all day long.

I absolutely love rainy days. My personal favorite show to bring-watch during a rainy day is “The Great British Baking Show”. Thank you for all the great suggestions, I look forward to making a vision board next time it rains!
