Jaws

Artist Statement

My piece “Jaws” is a visual representation of what I feel like when I am put under so much pressure that I am on the verge of tears. I tried to make it appear that the bark was almost “biting” my throat, to show the physical feeling of pressure you get in your throat when you are trying your best to keep yourself from crying. This piece was a venting mechanism for me, and a way for me to mentally explore what exactly makes me upset. The materials used in this piece were cardboard, hot glue, and tree bark.
