The Secret Life Of Bees by Sue Monk Kid is a fiction story set in the 1960’s about the power of a mother’s love and how it transcends all boundaries. When Lilly Collins runs away from her toxic father, she finds a group of black women in Tiburon, South Carolina who was connected to her mother, a person she desperately wishes to know more about. There, she stays with the women and works on their honey farm. Her experiences expose Lily to the racism at the time, and how everyone is not always who you think they originally were.
