    Pushing Through the Mid-Semester Slump

    Pushing Through The Mid-Semester Slump

The middle of the semester can be tough for everyone. We’re halfway done and are anxious for Christmas, but there is still so much work to do. Final exams are fast-approaching, there’s so much to look forward to, and, quite honestly, we are fading fast. So how do we push through this monotony of middle-of-semester fatigue? How can we crank out the last half of the semester when visions of sugar plums dance in our heads?
Even though it may seem impossible, getting through this mid-semester hump can be done. For starters, it’s fall! Go outside and have fun in the leaves! Bake a pumpkin pie, go to a haunted house, carve a pumpkin. There are numerous activities, inside and outside, that can keep the monotony away. Now that it’s not so blazing hot, being outside is quite enjoyable, especially with a fall-themed activity.
Something else that can help you get out of that mid-semester slump is football season. Whether you’re in middle school, high school, or enjoy college and professional football, this is your time to soak in all the football you can. Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, are all full of football games, no matter what kind you prefer. Plus, the excitement of impending bowl games can really make you forget about that slump.
It’s important to remember that school is extremely important. Although it’s somewhat of a boring truth, your education is such a wonderful, valuable thing and even though you might feel like letting go a little and slacking off, you must remind yourself that. Healthy study habits are a key component to surviving the middle of the semester because if you’re making better grades and succeeding more in school, the happier you will probably be. Healthy study habits can really make the difference between breezing through an APUSH exam, and struggling to focus or keep your eyes open.
We are all in the same boat, pushing through the last half of the semester when it feels like you need to be done with the whole semester already. But the good news is that this monotony doesn’t last forever. We will eventually end the semester. And also with fall break/Thanksgiving break, that breaks it up even more. Even though the time might be dragging on as slow as possible currently, the world is still turning and eventually it will be over. Push through the end of this semester to the sugar plums!
