trip for the summer

Updated June 21, 2021

Going away to college is, for most people, one of the biggest changes in their life so far. While college is usually an amazing and eye-opening experience, it can be difficult to leave behind your hometown and everyone you know.

Many people want to make their last summer between graduating high school and going away to college one to remember. There can be so many options of things to do. It can be difficult to know how to spend this valuable time before you move onto a new chapter of your life. Here we will explore three ideas of how you can spend your last summer before college.

Take a Road Trip

This summer can be the perfect time to take a road trip. You are likely to have freedom from many responsibilities. This can be things like studying or any ties to a particular place. So, why not go on a vacation? A road trip is a great vacation idea for teenagers without much money. As long as you have a vehicle and essentials like food and gas money you are good to go. A few friends, a car or motorhome, and the open road is all you need to make memories that will last a lifetime.

Alternatively, you could also take a solo road trip and learn more about yourself before you go away to college. If the idea of riding a motorcycle across the country to get away from it all for a while sounds appealing to you, check out bmgscooters.com to find your wheels.

Volunteer

Volunteering can be an incredibly fulfilling way to spend a summer. Not only can you meet new people, but you can also give something back to those in need and feel like you are making a difference. If you are prone to feeling aimless and bored during the long summers and are not working a job, why not see what opportunities for volunteering there are in your local area?

Throw the Craziest Pool Party

A pool party can be ideal to throw in the last summer before college. It’ll give you unforgettable memories and prepare you for a fresh start to the academic year. Organizing a pool party is not as tough as you think, especially when it’s done just for you and for your friends. You just have to pick a cool theme, match your outfit and have some snacks and drinks at hand. You may also fill the pool with creative pool floats to add many colors and fun to your party. They can be of any design and shape you desire. Get creative and show your uniqueness.

Plan a Going-Away Party

It is unlikely that you won’t see your friends again. However it is likely that you will be away from them for a while when you go to college. Planning and throwing a going-away party can be a perfect end to this chapter, while allowing you to give each other the send-off you all deserve. Whether you throw a rager that includes your whole graduating class or just a low-key hangout with a couple of close friends, a going-away party is a great thing to do before the end of this summer.

Once the party is over, there is no need to feel upset. You may only see your friends (apart from online, of course) during the holidays for the next few years. But, these reunions can be even more fun than spending time with them now. Not only will you value each other’s company in these times and make the most of it, but you will also have plenty of college stories to share and hear.

Whatever you do, don’t get upset and think that this is your last chance to do all of these things. College isn’t forever, you will almost definitely return home at some point, even if just for a visit during Summer or Winter Break!
