Divorce

When I was in 2nd grade, my parents divorced. As a second grader, it was very hard to see my parents split up especially because I was oblivious to what was going to happen and I did not know why it was happening. The first few months and even years were definitely the most difficult, but I knew that I was going to be okay. Going back and forth between houses and having to plan everything out for that week was one the hardest things as well. I had to become independent and responsible, but it definitely helped in the long run. I also became more confident in myself and in my potential.

These things that I had learned have been key ingredients in who I am today. Sometimes life just throws things like this at people because you need a little struggle in order to grow stronger. But I know that I am not alone in this. There are so many people who love me, and you, who want to help us in these situations. I know, and I hope you know, that if we need anything, we can always go to a trustworthy adult or friend, and I am sure that they will be happy to help and support you. These kind of situations are not the kids’ fault, we have to remember that. They happen because of a bigger underlying cause that we should not and cannot fix. We just all have to remember that we can learn something from this and we become stronger girls.
